The Bells

St. Machar’s Cathedral is one of only a handful of churches in Scotland containing a set of bells hung for change ringing. They are rung every Sunday from 10.15 to 11 am to summon and to welcome folk to worship.

Visiting bell ringers and visitors to the Cathedral for Sunday worship are welcome to visit the ringing chamber during service-ringing by arrangement. Contact the Tower Secretary, Ruth Ogilvie, at stmachar@sacr.org

The bells can be rung to celebrate a wedding, and the band is also happy to ring quarter peals for special occasions, for both of which a charge is made. For details, contact the Cathedral Office, office@stmachar.com.

Visiting ringers or bands wishing to ring the bells should contact the Tower Secretary, Ruth Ogilvie, at stmachar@sacr.org.
