A Message From the Minister

Embracing Diversity and Devotion

Whilst the uniqueness of the building might be a draw for your first visit, the warmth of welcome and connection with wonder-filled people will be the reason you come again and again. A place of worship for centuries, we are still following the same Jesus of Nazareth, who leads us through all seasons of our lives, as a community together.

A congregation of the Church of Scotland, we are under a Presbyterian form of governance, part of the Reformed Tradition. The Kirk Session, our local court of the church, proactively supports a congregation inclusive of all the colours of human sexuality, gender, ability and race and is open to any reflection that may be needed to improve our welcome to all.

Sunday morning services follow a traditional liturgy. Congregational praise is led by the excellent choir accompanied by the magnificent pipe organ. Holy Communion is celebrated on the last Sunday of every month, Christmas morning, Easter Day and Pentecost.

The evening services are more intimate, shared in the choir stalls in the chancel area of the church. Holy Communion is celebrated most Sundays, with time made for prayers for healing – echoing the traditions of St Machar’s healing ministry.
