Getting Involved and Giving
For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. (Romans 12:4–5)
Like all churches, St Machar’s relies on the generosity of its members and of visitors. We give our money, our times, and our talents in the service of God, and to foster a Christian community.
If you don’t liv nearby ‘getting involved’ may seem difficult but you can show your interest by membership of the Friends of the Cathedral.

Objectives of the Friends
Activities
Over the years we have provided a series of improvements to the interior of the Cathedral and have purchased or sponsored works of art and furnishings. We have also published two series of Occasional Papers, where invited contributors have written on subjects concerning, or relevant to, the Cathedral, and its history.
Joining us
The ‘Friends’ is open to all those – within and outwith the congregation – who are interested in this very special building. The Cathedral is an important part of our heritage of religion and culture, and we are helping to preserve something of the beauty and nobility of Scotland. It is a salute to the past: it is also a vote of confidence in the future.

Support Our Mission
In this country most churches and the church buildings are kept going by the giving of their members. Historic churches such as St Machar’s also benefit much from the generosity of visitors. When you visit St Machar’s please give something, out of gratitude for what you have seen. In the Cathedral there is a large donation chest and there are three card readers. You can also donate on this site.
